How to use the salary calculator

Enter your annual CTC, optionally set monthly basic (otherwise 40% of monthly CTC), keep or change PF % and professional tax, add other annual deductions if they apply, and pick the new or old tax regime. Choose Calculate to see monthly gross, PF, professional tax, estimated income tax, and take-home. Use Copy results when you want the breakdown elsewhere. Nothing is uploaded. Figures are planning estimates for a resident individual under 60 and ignore surcharge and employer contributions.

Frequently asked questions

How does this salary calculator estimate take-home pay?

It starts from annual CTC, derives monthly gross, subtracts employee PF (12% of monthly basic capped at ₹15,000 unless you override basic), professional tax, and an estimated monthly income-tax slice using FY 2024-25 new or old regime slabs. Employer PF and other benefits are ignored so the figure stays a planning estimate.

What PF assumptions does the salary calculator use?

If monthly basic is blank, basic defaults to 40% of monthly CTC. Employee PF is 12% of the lesser of that basic and ₹15,000 per month (common EPFO wage-ceiling practice). Change basic or PF % if your offer letter differs.

How is professional tax handled?

Professional tax defaults to ₹200 per month and is editable. States set different slabs and caps, so adjust the field to match your payroll.

Which tax year and regime does the income-tax slice use?

FY 2024-25 (AY 2025-26) for a resident individual under 60. New regime uses Budget 2024 slabs with ₹75,000 standard deduction and section 87A rebate up to ₹7 lakh taxable. Old regime uses classic slabs with ₹50,000 standard deduction and rebate up to ₹5 lakh taxable. Cess is 4%. Surcharge is omitted.

Does the salary calculator upload my CTC or salary details?

No. All math runs in your browser. Deskutil never receives the CTC, basic, PF, tax regime, or other figures you enter.
