How to use Excel to PDF
Choose or drop a .xlsx file, then Convert to PDF. SheetJS reads the first worksheet in your browser. Cell values are drawn as a simple table on landscape US Letter pages and you download converted.pdf. Old .xls (binary) files are rejected. Charts are skipped. Formulas show calculated values if those values are present in the file. Layout will not match Excel. Nothing is sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Does this convert Excel layout to PDF perfectly?
No. This tool reads the first worksheet and draws cell values as a simple text table on landscape pages. Charts are omitted. Column widths, merged cells, fonts, and print layout will not match Excel.
Can I convert an old .xls file?
No. Only .xlsx (Office Open XML zip) is accepted. The older binary .xls format is rejected with a clear error. Save as .xlsx in Excel first, then try again.
Is my Excel file uploaded to a server?
No. SheetJS parses the .xlsx in your browser and the PDF is built locally with pdf-lib. Deskutil never receives the file.
Which sheet and cell data are converted?
Only the first worksheet. Cell values only. Formulas show calculated values if those values are stored in the file; otherwise a formula may appear empty. Charts and images are not drawn. About 500 rows are included, with a warning if the sheet is longer.
What file do I download?
A PDF named converted.pdf with a simple text table on US Letter landscape pages. It is not a pixel-perfect replica of the spreadsheet. Nothing is uploaded.
