PDF to Word

Extract selectable text from a PDF into a Word .docx file. This is not a pixel-perfect layout conversion—scanned pages, images, and complex designs will not match the original. Password-protected PDFs fail with a clear error. Everything stays in your browser.

This extracts selectable text into Word. Scanned pages are images, so there is nothing to copy. Columns, tables, images, and exact fonts are not rebuilt. That is why the .docx will not match the original.

Choose a PDF or drop it here. Nothing is uploaded.

Choose a PDF, then convert. Large files above about 50 pages may be slow.

How to use PDF to Word

Choose a PDF, then Convert. The tool reads selectable text with pdf.js in your browser, shows page count and progress, and builds a .docx you can Download. Scanned or image-only pages will be empty or nearly empty. Password-protected files are rejected with an error. Nothing is sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Does this convert PDF layout to Word perfectly?

No. This tool extracts selectable text into a Word .docx file. Images, scanned pages, columns, and complex layouts will not match the original.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Not usefully. Scanned PDFs are images, so there is little or no selectable text to extract. Use dedicated OCR software if you need text from a scan.

What happens with a password-protected PDF?

Conversion stops with a clear error. Remove the password in another app, then try again. The file is never uploaded.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. pdf.js runs in your browser, the .docx is built locally, and Deskutil never receives the file.

What file do I download?

A real Word .docx (Office Open XML zip). Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and LibreOffice can open it. It contains extracted text, not a pixel-perfect replica of the PDF.
